An esoteric message to all Masons and non-MasonsThe thought's of one of our junior members...... We live in an age of rapid technological progress, an age of great comfort and a plethora of material goods. We are surrounded by a budding virtual world which is re-defining and reorganizing our society. At this modern season of predominance of Democracy, the main characteristic of which is the lack of discrimination, and the exception of citizens of "advanced" States and societies. A surge of private cults and religious sects, of drugs and abuse, of violence and materialism, forcefully proving how desperately we need to regain our spirituality. It is one of the great paradoxes of our time that those of us who are fortunate to live in the so called “developed countries” seem to have all the material objects we could possibly desire, and to be able to succeed at any profession that we choose, but our lives appear to be emptier than ever. In most of the people’s lives all over the world this emptiness appears to be the fundamental pedestal. If we look around us, we will observe that never before have our homes been so close to each other in the history of humanity, but at the same time our hearts are ‘placed at such a distance’. Unless we redefine our priorities to focus on our humanity, rather than our technology, we may never regain a deep connection with ourselves, with each other and with Mother Earth. Freemasonry and its mysteries are timely and appropriate, however will not grant the answer to the meaning of the cosmos, and will not solve the great mysteries of life and death, and will not empower us with immortality. Its purpose is to take us, on an intriguing and intellectual journey, an esoteric journey of birth and rebirth. A journey through the minds, lives, and souls of numerous people who lived before us, people who have loved and suffered, people who lived until they drank the last drop of life. Freemasonry is an Oasis in this new ‘medieval of madness’. Its intention is to free the human’s mind from Plato’s cave, because what we see, could be nothing else than a look of a landscape in the mirror. In this mirror, the ‘relative’ truth is revealed to us and expressed allegorically and symbolically. Armoured with logic, which is the only mean for every human being to identify and conquer this ‘reality’, we can break the chains of this material world and see the light of the truth. In this spiritual world anybody can enter who keeps his absolute independence and fights the "infidelities", where people drift so often from the care of their precarious interests. That’s why Freemasonry is so important especially in this new global era, it will armour us with love, and instil stronger foundations to our ethos and sense of justice. This is the trip, which will illustrate how to harness all the forces within us. Socrates used to say that” persons acting badly, from ignorance will take the villain for good”. The absence of knowledge coerces them to the crime, and as we know knowledge, is conscience. Ultimately Freemasonry divulges the way for the refusal to succumb to illusory phenomena, and it assists us in discovering the substance of virtue. In this knowledge, in this ‘self conscience’, only wisdom (Sofia) and the reason (Logos) can help us, and only the wise man can be happy. Not in "the other life", but in the land of existence –the beginning and end of the "blessedness" that can conquer the person. Article written by George Vakalopolus
